(March 19, 2011) &mdash; The Bemidji Trombones ensemble will host their spring concert on March 29 at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.<\/p>\n<p>The concert will be held in Thompson Recital Hall in the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex on the Bemidji State campus at 7:30 p.m.&nbsp; Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>The Bemidji Trombones will be playing works by Vaclav Nelhybel, Eric Ewazen, Peter Schickele, Richard Wagner, Charles Gounod, James Barnes, and Flor Peeters.<\/p>\n<p>The group will welcome guest artist Russ Zokaites for their concert.&nbsp; Zokaites is a doctoral student at the University of Missouri &ndash; Kansas City.&nbsp; He will play a solo aria from Gounod&rsquo;s opera &ldquo;Faust&rdquo; called &ldquo;Avant de Quitter ces Lieux.&rdquo; Zokaites arranged the piece for trombone choir and solo trombone.<\/p>\n<p>The group is directed by Sarah Paradis who is the low brass and music theory professor in the music department.<\/p>\n<p>The Bemidji Trombones is an ensemble of 12 trombone players, four students and eight community members, all with varying types of musical backgrounds.&nbsp; The group meets weekly to rehearse and performs one concert each semester.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the Department of Music at (218) 755-2915.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEMIDJI, Minn.
