(Nov. 2, 2011) &mdash; The Bemidji Trombones ensemble will host their fall concert on Nov. 10 at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ featuring solo performances and music from multiple centuries.<\/p>\n<p>The concert will be held in Thompson Recital Hall in the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex on the Bemidji State campus at 7:30 p.m.&nbsp; Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>Under the direction of Sarah Paradis, assistant professor of music at Bemidji State, the concert will include music from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.&nbsp; Specifically, the ensemble will be playing a transcription of J.S. Bach&rsquo;s Toccata, originally written for organ and dating back to the early 18th century.&nbsp; There will be eight pieces performed throughout the program.<\/p>\n<p>Paradis will be playing solo trombone with trombone choir accompaniment on two pieces.&nbsp; Paradis teaches music theory and piano fundamentals at Bemidji State.&nbsp; She is a trombone player originally from Binghamton, N.Y.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Swanson, professor emeritus and former director of the Bemidji Trombones, will also be directing some pieces on the program.<\/p>\n<p>The Bemidji Trombones is an ensemble of 12 trombone players comprised of music majors, community members, current music faculty, and music faculty emeritus.&nbsp; The group meets weekly to rehearse and performs one concert each semester.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the Department of Music at (218) 755-2915.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEMIDJI, Minn.
