(March 28, 2011)<\/strong> &mdash; Trombones of Bemidji, an ensemble made up of musicians from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and from Bemidji and other surrounding communities, will hold a free concert Thursday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in the Thompson Recital Hall of the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex on the Bemidji State campus.<\/p>\n<p>The concert will feature a group of 12 trombones, including current Bemidji State students Ben Fleming, a senior in music\/teacher certification and music\/liberal arts from Edina, Minn.; and Steven Radley, a junior in music\/liberal arts from Luverne, Minn.<\/p>\n<p>Other members of the choir are Paul Mork, Hyram Price, Jeff Johnson, Cal Broughton, Tom Patnaude, Nancy Sydow, Alyssa Konecne, Les Torgerson, Glenn Seibel, Melissa Stover and Tom Swanson.<\/p>\n<p>The concert will feature a variety of music for large trombone ensemble, as well as a solo by Patnaude. It will feature &ldquo;Myths and Legends,&rdquo; a trombone quartet featuring Sydow, Konecne, Radley and Swanson, written by Eric Ewazen; &ldquo;Sanctuary&rdquo; for solo trombone and trombone choir, featuring the solo by Patnaude, written by James Kazik; and &ldquo;Conversation,&rdquo; a duet for tenor and bass trombone featuring Fleming and Radley, written by Charles Small.<\/p>\n<p>Trombones of Bemidji is sponsored by the Department of Music at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and is conducted by Tom Swanson, adjunct professor of music. The concert is held annually in conjunction with the International Trombone Association&rsquo;s International Trombone Week, which promotes the trombone through concerts held across the country.
