Dr. Todd Frauenholtz, professor of mathematics and computer science, will present an Honors Council Lecture entitled “The Scholarship of Supporting STEM Students” on Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. in the American Indian Resource Center.<\/p>\n
Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ recently completed a National Science Foundation grant that supported 20 undergraduate students with a major in the STEM field. Students participated in a learning community where they were involved in various career planning and extracurricular activities that led to their success.<\/p>\n
The Honors Council Lecture Series is hosted by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Honors Council, the advisory group to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s honors program. It is composed of 12 faculty members representing each of the university’s colleges. Student representatives are also elected to the council by their cohorts for one-year terms. The series provides Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ faculty with a forum to share their expertise and the results of their research with the Bemidji community. All Honors Council lectures are open free to the public.<\/p>\n
