{"id":36603,"date":"2019-05-03T12:06:38","date_gmt":"2019-05-03T17:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/?p=36603"},"modified":"2019-05-10T08:31:07","modified_gmt":"2019-05-10T13:31:07","slug":"2019-senior-send-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/2019\/05\/03\/2019-senior-send-off\/","title":{"rendered":"Bemidji State Sends Graduates Off in Style at the 2019 Senior Social"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As commencement day approaches at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, more than 300 graduating Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ seniors attended a special send-off event at the David Park House May 1 from 5&ndash;7 p.m. immediately following graduation rehearsal, which was held in Hagg-Sauer Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Alumni &amp; Foundation office and sponsored by Jimmy John&rsquo;s in Bemidji, students were welcomed to a meal of sandwiches, chips and cookies. Each student received a Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ pint glass and were invited to register for a variety of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ door prizes. A small group of local alumni, along with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ staff, helped coordinate the event and welcome students.<\/p>\n<p>Despite cold, rainy weather, students lined the sidewalk near the David Park House to receive their free meal, senior gift, register for door prizes and take photos with a special Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-branded photo frame.<\/p>\n<p>With 302 students visiting during the two-hour send-off, attendance was up significantly over the previous year&rsquo;s event; approximately 180 students attended in 2018.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24884 alignright img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/06\/MN-State-logo-100x175-e1539967051802.jpg\" alt=\"MN State logo\" width=\"78\" height=\"143\" data-bp=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/06\/MN-State-logo-100x175-e1539967051802.jpg\">Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ<\/b>, located amid the lakes and forests of northern Minnesota, occupies a wooded campus along the shore of Lake Bemidji. Enrolling more than 5,100 students, Bemidji State offers more than 80 undergraduate majors and eight graduate degrees encompassing arts, sciences and select professional programs. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ is a member of the Minnesota State system of colleges and universities and has a faculty and staff of more than 550.
