• Mahmoud Al-Odeh<\/strong>, assistant professor of technology, art, and design, received Quality Matters certification<\/i><\/a> for his online course, Production Planning and Control.<\/p>\n

• Eric Forsyth<\/strong>, professor of human performance, sport and health, edited “NIAAA’s Guide to Interscholastic Athletic Administration<\/i><\/a>,” with Michael Blackburn, John Olson and Bruce Whitehead, among others. It was published in July, 2013, by Human Kinetics. He authored two chapters in the book —  “Challenges in Today’s Interscholastic Sport Administration” and “The Future of Sports in Schools.”<\/p>\n

\"DSC01427\"<\/a>• Donna Palivec (above; back row, center)<\/strong>, professor of human performance, sport and health, was recognized for her role in founding varsity women’s basketball at the University of Indiana in a series of special ceremonies in Bloomington, Jan. 18-19. Palivec was a member of Indiana’s first varsity intercollegiate women’s basketball team in 1971, and helped guide the Hoosiers to the 1973 AIAW Final Four.<\/p>\n

• William “Bill” Scheela<\/strong>, professor emeritus of business administration, will have a book, “Venture Capital in Asia: Investing in Emerging Countries,” published April 30 by Business Expert Press. In the book, Scheela analyzes the published research on both venture capital and business angel (informal venture capital) investing in seed and early-stage companies. He focuses on the major emerging Asian economies of China, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia.<\/p>\n

• Anton Treuer (above; first row, third from left)<\/strong>, executive director of the American Indian Resource Center, helped teach the Hawaiian Field Program in January (pictured, right), which brought 23 Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ students and four staff members to the Big Island to study the Hawaiian Medium School at Nawahi, volcano science and ecological policy making.<\/p>\n

• Sarah Young<\/strong>, associate professor of TRiO\/Student Support Services, and Crystal Cleven<\/strong>, instructor in TRiO, co-presented “Bridging the Gap to the Sophomore Year” at the 39th Annual Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel<\/i><\/a> (MAEOPP) conference, Nov.  3-6 in Columbus, Ohio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
