• Andy Bartlett<\/strong>, associate director of communications and marketing, presented “Building a News-Clip Tracking Database Using Off-the-Shelf Software” at the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District V<\/i><\/a> conference, Sept. 24 in Bloomington, Minn.<\/p>\n

• Margie Giauque <\/strong>and Nancy Haugen<\/strong> from Career Services attended the Noel Academy for Strengths-Based Leadership<\/i><\/a>, Oct. 22-26 in Pasadena, Calif., entitled “Thriving in College: Developing Students Strengths to Succeed.”<\/p>\n

Both attended the pre-conference training and received certificates in strengths approaches in higher education leadership and student success from Azuza Pacific University.<\/p>\n

• Kelli Steggall<\/strong>, director of TRiO \/ Student Support Services, presented “Striving to Achieve: Helping Native American Students Succeed Through TRiO” at the Council for Opportunity in Education’s national conference<\/i><\/a>, Sept. 8-11 in Chicago. Steggall presented with A.Keith Hovis from Nothern Arizona University and Aaron Poor Bear from the Univeristy of South Dakota.<\/p>\n

\"Atlas<\/a>• Dr. Anton Treuer<\/strong>, executive director of the American Indian Resource Center, will have a  new book, “Atlas of Indian Nations,” published by National Geographic later this year. Organized by region, this encyclopedic reference details Indian tribes in these areas: beliefs, sustenance, shelter, alliances and animosities, key historical events, and more. See the linguistic groupings and understand the constantly shifting, overlapping boundaries of the tribes.<\/p>\n

Treuer also had the book “Naadamaading: Dibaajimowinan Ji-nisidotaading,”
\nfeaturing original stories for children written in Anishinaabemowin by a storytelling team of skillful first-language speakers and scholars, released earlier this year.<\/p>\n
