Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Department of Music Wind Ensemble Performing Oct. 29

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ’s Department of Music hosts an Oct. 29 concert by its Wind Ensemble.

The performance will be held at 3 p.m. in the Main Theater of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors; Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students are admitted free with a valid ID.

The concert will feature a bassoon solo by Miriam Webber, assistant professor of music, and a Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ premiere work by Aaron Perrine.

The setlist for the concert includes:

  • Hosts of Freedom by Karl L. King
  • Sheltering Sky by John Mackey
  • Concerto for Bassoon and Wind Ensemble by Eric Ewazen
  • Divertimento for Band, Op. 42 by Vincent Persichetti
  • Temperance by Aaron Perrine
  • Give Us This Day by David Maslanka
  • Galop by Dmitri Shostakovich

The Wind Ensemble is a non-audition student ensemble group directed by Scott Guidry, assistant professor of music. The Wind Ensemble is open to all Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students and rehearses three days per week. In addition to regularly programmed campus concerts, the Wind Ensemble hosts the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Honor Band, an annual band festival for many of the top high school musicians Minnesota. The ensemble takes an annual band tour with its concerts performed at many of the major high school music programs in the area. Recent tours include performances in Winnipeg and Minneapolis.
