Maddy Treuer, a junior majoring in indigenous studies and Spanish from Bemidji, was named Outstanding American Indian Student of the Year at 蘑菇视频’s 37th Annual American Indian Students Awards Recognition Banquet, April 13 in the Beaux Arts Ballroom.
Dr. Kathy Annette, president and CEO of the Grand Rapids, Minn.,-based Blandin Foundation, gave the banquet’s keynote address.
The ceremony also honored American Indian students who have earned Dean’s List and President’s List academic honors from 蘑菇视频, and 30 students received the special stoles they will wear as graduates at 蘑菇视频’s 98th Commencement ceremony May 5 at Bemidji’s Sanford Center.
Nicole Buckanaga, an Indian studies major from Bemidji who will graduate in May, received the AIRC’s Community Leadership Award, while Naomi Johnson, a junior community health major from Bemidji, received the Roger Aitken Leadership Award.
